Families of the Bourke Street attack have spoken of the loss of their loved ones. These are their words.

Jess Mudie, 22

"To our dearest and most badass daughter and sister, Jess,

"You will always be a part of us and are one of the strongest people we know. We are constantly inspired by your love for everyone around you and the lengths you will go to for the people you love.

"We love your extravagant humour, the fact that you always laughed at your own jokes and your ridiculous names for everything like "the guch". You are always up to do everything and are such bright bubble of joy. Hydration is key, "Remember me in the morning" is your cocktail of choice, and your personality ensures that will always be the case.

"You are strong, beautiful, determined, always work hard to get what you want and never shy away from a challenge. You always tell it like it is and if someone wanted the truth you would not be afraid to tell them. You are so head strong and assertive in everything that you do, your love for your family and friends is immense, and you are always there when any one needs support

"We love you so much!

"We thank everyone for their condolences but would appreciate this time together to grieve privately."

Matthew Si, 33

"Mr. Si's wife, Melinda, said that Matt was a devoted husband and a loving father, brother and son.

"She said that she and Matt had just finished having lunch together in the city. They had just parted to go back to their respective offices.

"The family would like to thank everyone who helped Matt at the scene and did their best to save him.

"She said that she and the family are shattered and they request that their privacy be respected. She will not be making any further media statements."

Zachary Bryan, 3 months

"On 20th January a man drove through Melbourne city killing and hurting people including our two-year-old toddler Zara and our three-month-old son, Zachary.

"Our beautiful Zara is in a stable condition, however Zachary, our son, did not survive.

"He was the most beautiful, loving, happy, and perfect little baby we were so lucky to be gifted with. He was the light of our lives constantly filling our days with smiles and laughs. He leaves us with the best three months and 14 days of wonderful memories spent in this world.
"Zac, Mummy and Daddy love you very much, and always will.

"We want to thank everyone who has helped us, comforted us and grieved with us. Your kind words really mean the world to us. We ask you to keep us and Zara in your prayers.

"Finally, as we mourn our beautiful Zachary, we ask the media to respect our privacy at this difficult time."

The families of Thalia Hakin, 10, and an unnamed Japanese national, 25, have not released statements.
