The Rayner Goddard Act of Courage Award is an honorific use by the comrades of Unit 1012. It is use to describe and honor the government official who defended capital punishment.
May 29 was chosen as it was the same date that Chief Justice Rayner Goddard passed away in 1971. He was a strong supporter of the death penalty and he cared for the victims and their families. He gave speeches in the House of Lords, defending the use of the death penalty and fighting against abolition.
We, the comrades of Unit 1012: The VFFDP, honors and respects him. We wish that more judges or government official can follow his courageous character.
To be awarded the Chief Justice Rayner Goddard award, the candidate has to fulfill several criteria:
- The candidate must be a politician. For example, the head of state is included.
- The candidate can be an attorney or magistrate.
- The candidate must either give a speech or write an article defending capital punishment.
- Regardless of race and nationality, the candidate can be considered for the award.
We, the comrades of Unit 1012, will name two people who won the award in 2012 and 2013. We will give our reasons for awarding them and honoring them.
Michael Ramos, the District Attorney of San Bernardino County, California
2012 Award - Michael Ramos, the District Attorney of San Bernardino County, California.
We, the comrades of Unit 1012, send our thanks and our utmost respect to DA Michael Ramos who spoke out against the abolition of the death penalty in California in 2012. He played a huge part in defeating Proposition 34 on November 6, 2012.
We believe that Rayner Goddard would be proud of this DA if he was alive today. Like Goddard, Michael Ramos showed his love and care for the victims and their grieving families. God bless you! You deserve the award of 2012.

"We must continue to fight for the families who lost their loved ones at the hands of California's most violent criminals. For them, the pain never ends."
2013 Award – Adams Oshiomhole, the Governor of Edo State, Nigeria.
We, the comrades of Unit 1012, encourage the Head of States around the world to learn from Adams Oshiomhole, the Governor of Edo State, Nigeria. He signed the death warrants for two murderers and had them hanged by the neck till dead on June 24, 2013. Altogether 4 murderers were hanged in Nigeria that day, but the other two were hanged in other states in the country.
Similar to Goddard, Adams Oshiomhole courageously spoke out in defense of the death penalty at the second annual seminar on the “Role of Public Complaints Commission in a democratic Nigeria’ organized by the Public Complaint Commission, in Abuja on July 4, 2013.
We, the comrades of Unit 1012, feel that he should be nicknamed: ‘The Rayner Goddard of Edo State, Nigeria’. To add more icing to the cake, Adams Oshiomhole signed thedeath penalty law for kidnapping on October 18 that year.
Congratulations, Governor! You rightfully deserve the award of 2013.
