As one of America’s famous Admiral,
Chester William Nimitz died on this date, February 20, 1966. We honor him by
presenting one of his quotes. Although it refers to fallen soldiers, we use it
to remember both our heroes and the murdered victims.
QUOTE: They fought together as brothers in arms; they died together
and now they sleep side by side...To them, we have a solemn obligation — the
obligation to ensure that their sacrifice will help make this a better and
safer world in which to live. [Of
those who died in the war in the Pacific, after ceremonies in Tokyo Bay
accepting the official surrender of Japan (2 September 1945).]
