40TH BIRTHDAY REMEMBRANCE FOR MELISSA TROTTER (NOVEMBER 26, 1979 TO DECEMBER 8, 1998)

We, the comrades of Unit 1012: The VFFDP, will always remember Melissa Trotter on November 26 every year as it was her birthday. Although she was murdered on December 8, 1998 and taken from this earth, we will remember how she lived on this earth, and not how she died.

Justice was served as her killer, Larry Swearingen was executed by lethal injection in Texas on August 21, 2019.

Melissa Trotter, 19, was a student at Lone Star College when she was raped and murdered in 1998.

As for the saints who are on the earth,
“They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”
- Psalm 16:3 (NKJV)

"So long as we live, they too shall live and love for they are a part of us as we remember them."
- Gates of Prayer

230 years ago on November 26, 1789, a national Thanksgiving Day is observed in the United States as proclaimed by President George Washington at the request of Congress. In order to remember this event and also Melissa’s 40th birthday in Heaven, we, the comrades of Unit 1012: The VFFDP, will present this prayer:

As blessed members of Unit 102, we thank you Father God for the gift of Jesus, your Son, who, because of the cross, gives us salvation and eternal life. Because of Him, this Thanksgiving day, we have a great appreciation of family and dignity. We give thanks for life and its sanctity, for comforting the families of victims of violent crimes and punishing those who commit them, while at the same time offering the offenders a chance for redemption. This holiday season, please send help to those who are hungry, sick, or oppressed, for the homeless and the helpless and the lonely and the lost. We give thanks to You, for being our Creator, Protector and provider. Most of all, 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is Gods will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." Amen
