On this
date, September 10, 2010, a carjacker and rapist murderer, Cal Coburn Brown was
executed by lethal injection in the State of Washington. He was convicted of
raping and stabbing Holly Carol Washa to death on May 24, 1991. Although he was
put to death 19 years after the murder and 17 years after being sentenced to
death, the victims’ families did not regret watching him die, even two years
after witnessing the execution. Please go to the ‘Soldier, Executioner & Pro-Lifer’ Blog to learn more about this killer.
QUOTE 1: "It's
been so long we had to deal with all of this," said Becky
Washa, the victim's sister, of Sioux Falls, S.D. "Now
it's finally over. I don't have to think about him anymore."
QUOTE 2: "Closure has finally
come to the family," John Washa said. "Why
he did what he did to my daughter Holly I guess I'll never understand."

QUOTE 3: January 25, 2012 - There have been only five executions
since the death penalty was reinstated 30 years ago. The most recent was Cal
Brown, who was put to death for the torture-murder of Holly Washa.
Holly's father, John Washa, said he
still very much favors the death penalty.
"You do the crime, you
pay for it,"
he said. "And if it's as bad as it was with my
daughter, Holly, they need the death penalty."
QUOTE 4: Washa
said even with the lengthy appeals process, it was worth it to watch Brown die.
"It took a long time,
but I'm glad it's over with," he said. "We don't have to
hear about him anymore."
