We, the members of Unit 1012, will remember 35-year-old Ashli Elizabeth Babbitt on January 6 every year.

Ashli Elizabeth Babbitt (1985 – January 6, 2021) was a California resident and a veteran of the United States Air Force who had served fourteen years over four tours. She was shot and killed while trying to break into the house chamber inside the United States Capitol building during the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. Babbitt was a business owner in San Diego and a follower of Donald Trump. The Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation into the death. It is unclear who shot her. Reports differ as to whether she was shot in the neck, the chest, or the shoulder.
As CommonAshSense on Twitter prior to arriving at the
Capitol she asked Chief Justice John Roberts to resign and accused Vice
President Mike Pence of treason by retweeting a list by L. Lin Wood. Babbitt
had earlier retweeted a January 4 reference by Wood to Roberts saying "the
storm is coming". The following day she tweeted "the storm is
here", which was the final composed message. "The Storm" is a
term used by QAnon and Babbitt has been described as a "QAnon
Believer".
Reactions to death
An article in Law and Crime discussed whether felony
murder charges could be brought against others, either protesters, those who
invaded the capital, or instigators of the rally, as suggested on "legal
Twitter". It concluded that such charges were very unlikely.
