EMILY HADDOCK (SEPTEMBER 5, 1995 TO SEPTEMBER 21, 2007)

We, the members of Unit 1012, will honor and remember 12-year-old Emily Haddock on September 5 and September 21 every year.

We, the members of Unit 1012: The VFFDP, will make her one of The 82 murdered children of Unit 1012, where we will not forget her. Let us remember how she lived and not how she died. We will always support her family members.

Emily was a seventh-grade student at New Century Middle School in Cameron and was looking forward to the upcoming volleyball season. She participated in the school band and playing basketball and it took both hands to show off the trophies that showed off her skills. Just as active outside of school, she enjoyed karaoke and swimming in her leisure. She also enjoyed horseback riding and would have been getting a horse of her own for the Christmas holiday. Emily attended First Baptist Church of Hope Mills where she enjoyed Sunday school and vacation bible school. She was very fond of the pastor there whom she referred to as "Preacher Mike." She didn't have a favorite color, preferring to admire every hue evidenced by the red flip-flops, the green sandals and the blue ones near the foot of her bed. Emily was full of life and she was quick to smile. She not only loved people, she wanted to get to know them. The inquisitive dark eyed girl with the long soft brown locks of hair was always asking questions. Surely Ginger, her brown dachshund and Pooch, her pit bull, will miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Bill Scott. Her life was taken in her own home by intruders in a robbery attempt, who never gave a second thought to this child's love of life. She was only 12 years old.
