CORRECTIONS OFFICER DANIEL JAMES NAGLE (SEPTEMBER 9, 1962 TO DECEMBER 17, 1999)


20 years ago, on this date, December 17, 1999, Corrections Officer Daniel James Nagle was stabbed to death by an inmate at the McConnell Unit in Beeville, Texas. Let us honor this fallen corrections officer and thank God, that justice was served, as the Prison Killer, Robert Lynn Pruett was executed on October 12, 2017.

Corrections Officer Daniel Nagle was stabbed to death by an inmate at the McConnell Unit in Beeville, Texas.

Officer Nagle's body was found in a hallway between two recreation rooms in a minimum security area. The weapon that was used was a homemade eight-inch sharpened cylinder rod.

The inmate murdered Officer Nagle as revenge for not being allowed to carry a sack lunch into a recreation yard. On April 23rd, 2002, the suspect was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to death. In January 2012 his appeal of the sentence was denied by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He was executed by lethal injection on October 12th, 2017.

Officer Nagle had served with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for three years. He was survived by his wife and three young children.

Daniel Nagle was a Corrections Officer for the William McConnell Prison in Beeville, Texas for 4 years. He died in the line of duty at age 37. While on duty at the Prison he was attacked by inmates. He was stabbed to death by a shank. His body was found in a hallway between two recreation rooms in a minimum security area. The accused suspect murdered Officer Nagle out of revenge, for not being allowed to carry a sack lunch into the recreation yard. On April 23rd, 2002, the suspect was found guilty and sentenced to death.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Michael Nagle and a daughter Elizabeth Nagle. Officer Nagle was survived by his wife Crystal (Snoddy) Nagle, and three young children. A daughter Rebecca, and Two Sons-Johnathon and Michael Nagle, all of Beeville, Texas, Two Sisters-Della Nagle of San Antonio, Texas, and Nora Oyler of San Antonio, Texas, and Two Brothers-Mike Nagle of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Raul Nagle of Los Angeles, California.
