Ricardo Leyva "Richard" Muñoz Ramírez (February 29, 1960 – June 7, 2013) was an American serial killer, rapist, and burglar. His highly publicized home invasion crime spree terrorized the residents of the greater Los Angeles area, and later the residents of the San Francisco area, from June 1984 until August 1985. Prior to his capture, Ramirez was dubbed the "Night Stalker" by the news media. He used a wide variety of weapons, including handguns, knives, a machete, a tire iron, and a hammer. Ramirez, who was an avowed Satanist, never expressed any remorse for his crimes. The judge who upheld his thirteen death sentences remarked that Ramirez's deeds exhibited "cruelty, callousness, and viciousness beyond any human understanding". Ramirez died of complications from B-cell lymphoma while awaiting execution on California's death row.

We, the comrades of Unit 1012: The VFFDP, will write this open letter as Christians and as murdered victims’ families.

To all those Christians against the death penalty, if you read what Ramirez did, you can tell that he committed premeditated murder in full knowledge of what he was doing. You do well to know that he was a Satanist, who worshipped the devil and was unrepentant till the end. Please read II Chronicles 19:2 from the bible:

He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just,
Both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.
- Proverbs 17:15 NKJV

If you want to save this man from execution, you should have convert to Satanism and try to save him. We have a strong feeling you will not do that, just as the vast majority of people DO NOT SHED TEARS for Nazi War Criminals, we notice that nobody (other than his family members) shed tears for him.

He showed no remorse and requested for a suicide assist. Good radiance that he was gone to end his reign of terror. We bet no abolitionists can even rehabilitate him. He was an ungodly person who was a devil worshiper and even God demanded he be put to death by the State. However, he was killed not by execution but by B-cell lymphoma.

We, the comrades of Unit 1012: The VFFDP, strongly agree that since the Justice System in California was slow and Ramirez could have spent another decade on death row. B-cell lymphoma and not execution was a just punishment for the serial killer, as death is final and there is no way he can appeal to beat the system to set him free like John Couey and Cathy Henderson, who lied to go free but died of illness.

Some Christians claim that capital punishment eliminates any opportunity for the convict to come to repentance and redemption. But we do not agree for several reasons:

Ramirez was similar to Darrell Ferguson in many ways except that Ferguson was executed and died unrepentant. They were both reprobates whose hearts were both hardened and most probably burning in hell.

            As Thomas Aquinas said:

"They also have at that critical point of death the opportunity to be converted to God through repentance. And if they are so obstinate that even at the point of death their heart does not draw back from malice, it is possible to make a quite probable judgment that they would never come away from evil."

As Ramirez’s case proves Aquinas right, the fact that he did not even repent on his sick bed, shows that he will not repent even at the gurney.
