PRECIOUS MEMORIES OF CHRISTOPHER NEWSOM:
The Halls Community Park Board also
has announced a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded in honor of Newsom to a
graduating senior at Halls High School and recently held its first Chris Newsom
Baseball Tournament.
"Chris was one of
those people that would help anybody for anything, and to be able to help
another student with a scholarship in his name is a great honor," mother Mary Newsom said
“Chris grew up in the
Halls community and he played baseball his entire life, so we thought what
better way to celebrate his life than to do something that he loved doing,” said
Todd Cook, president of Halls Community Park.
He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and a graduate of Halls
High School, Class of 2002 and was a member of the Halls Red Devils baseball
team.
