ALL-INDIA ANTI-TERRORIST FRONT

All-India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF) is an anti-terrorist organisation led by Maninderjeet Singh Bitta. We, the comrades of Unit 1012: The VFFDP, endorses this organization and we give them our full support. We will post information about their chairman, MS Bitta from different news sources and give our comments on this organization.

Maninderjeet Singh Bitta (also M S Bitta) is the chairman of the All-India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF), and former chief of the Indian Youth Congress. He was made the president of Indian Youth Congress by P. V. Narasimha Rao.

Maninderjeet Singh Bitta was a Minister in Punjab Govt in the govt of Beant Singh (chief minister).

Attacks on His Life
  • On July 7, 1992 : Bitta lost his leg in a bombing that killed 13 people in the Punjab holy city of Amritsar on July 7, 1992.
  • On Sept 11, 1993 : Bitta survived a deadly attack on him at Indian youth congress premises on Raisina Road, New Delhi. The blast occurred at midday as Maninderjeet Singh Bitta, then president of the then governing Congress Party's youth wing, left his office in a car. His two bodyguards were among the dead. He escaped with shrapnel wounds to the chest, but 9 people were killed and 36 wounded. Burning tires and pieces of metal and glass were strewn across a 100-yard area near Parliament and many Government buildings. Rescuers pulled mangled bodies from damaged cars as smoke billowed into the sky. Passengers in a passing public bus were wounded. The death toll would probably have been much higher if it had not been raining heavily. After investigation, authorities named Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, a militant affiliated with the Khalistan Liberation Force, as one of the persons responsible for the 1993 Raisina Road car bomb and is sentenced to death by hanging. Bhullar's appeal against the conviction was dismissed by the Supreme Court of India on 27 December 2006. His plea for clemency was rejected by the President of India in May 2011.He again asked for commutation of hanging sentence, which was rejected by the Supreme court of India on 12th April 2013. Finally Death penalty of Devinderpal Singh Bhullar commuted to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court on 31st March 2014 on the ground of inordinate delay on part of President to decide their mercy pleas.
Life as a Social Worker

Bitta left politics to become a full-time social worker supporting the widows of Kargil War soldiers, 2001 Indian Parliament attack soldiers. He is provided with Z+ security for lifetime.

On November 6, 2004, he joined a rally in New Delhi staged with students supporting U.S. President George W. Bush’s re-election. Recently Bitta said that India should emulate Israel in evolving anti-terrorist strategies.

Bitta for front against terrorism

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

JALANDHAR, July 17: Former president of the All India Youth Congress Maninderjit Singh Bitta today called upon all political parties in the country to form a joint platform to meet the threat posed by foreign agencies, including the ISI and the CIA, who were attempting to revive terrorism in the state.

Describing terrorism as a national problem requiring immediate attention of all political parties, Bitta called for setting up a special fund by the Central Government to help the bereaved families.

Talking to reporters here, Bitta regretted that the problem of terrorism which was raising its head in different parts of the country was not being accorded the seriousness it deserved. He said that the criminals and terrorists were joining hands to create trouble in the country. He cited the recent incident of jail break attempt at Burail to prove his point.

Calling for a CBI probe into the operation of mobile phones by the detenues in the Burail Jail, Bitta said the government agencies must be vigilant against the attempts to revive terrorism.

He said the seizure of about 14 kg of RDX in Delhi recently was a serious matter and it was a new strategy by the Pakistan's ISI and other foreign agencies to incite trouble in Punjab and other parts of the country.

Bitta said he would constitute an anti-terrorism front shortly which would formulate an action plan to finish terrorism from the country. He said the government should treat with concern the large number of prominent leaders who were on the hit list of terrorists.

He said that Parliament should pass a new bill stipulating a denial of bail to the terrorist whose complicity in the killing of common people had been established by the police.

Bitta flays clemency plea
Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The All-India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF) chief, Maninderjit Singh Bitta, on Saturday criticised "some members" of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) for having moved clemency requests for a convict in the 1993 attack on him outside the Indian Youth Congress office here on Raisina Road.

At a press conference here, Mr. Bitta accused "some DSGMC leaders" of "extending support to the dreaded terrorist, Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, an accused in the bomb blast outside the IYC premises".

Mr. Bitta commended the Delhi police for having arrested Jagtar Singh Hawara, the most wanted Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) chief for operations in India, and urged the Government to honour those involved in the operation. He said if such terrorists were allowed to move about freely, they would again try to create disturbance in the country.

Stating that attempts to revive "Khalistan" movement could not have been possible without the support of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Mr. Bitta said ISI agents were trying to whip up communal passions with the help of terrorists.

Mr. Bitta also criticised the Punjab administration for its casual approach in reviewing the cases of terrorists presently lodged in their jails. He also came down heavily on the Punjab Government's decision to revoke the "black list" of people whose entry into the country was banned for their links with terrorists.

"These people operate from the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and Canada. If they are allowed in, they would spread their tentacles here also, which might cost the country dearly," he said, adding that the release of terrorists lodged in Punjab jails was also not justified as they were behind the killing of thousands of innocent people.

Kasab and Afzal Guru should be hanged together: MS Bitta
Monday, 17 May 2010 - 3:30pm IST | Place: New Delhi | Agency: PTI

Family members of the seven security personnel, who lost their lives battling terrorists on December 13, 2001, accused the govt of meting out a step-motherly treatment in dealing with cases of Kasab and Afzal.

Families of Parliament attack victims along with Anti-Terrorist Front chairman MS Bitta today questioned the government's move to fast track the death sentence awarded to Mumbai terror convict Ajmal Kasab when Afzal Guru has not been hanged for the past four years.

Bitta and family members of the seven security personnel, who lost their lives battling terrorists on December 13, 2001, accused the government of meting out a step-motherly treatment in dealing with cases of Kasab and Afzal. They demanded that Kasab and Afzal be hanged together.

Afzal Guru was awarded death penalty for his role in the Parliament attack.

"Why this step-motherly treatment? Afzal was sentenced to death nearly five years ago. He has not been executed till now. But, the government and the Law Minister are talking about fast tracking Kasab's death sentence. Why? Because, Kasab is a Pakistani and Afzal is an Indian and a Muslim," Bitta said.

"If Afzal is executed, political parties feel that they would loose the Muslim vote bank. No one should put their political compulsions above nation. Please don't indulge in vote bank politics," he said. "Afzal, Kasab and others awarded death penalty should be hanged together."

Bitta said he has written to home minister P Chidambaram asking him not to accept the demand of Afzal and Davinder Singh Bhullar, who was awarded death sentence for triggering a bomb blast to kill him, to shift them to jails in Kashmir and Amritsar respectively.

"The decision to shift dreaded terrorists like Singh to Amritsar Central Jail as per his appeal would be a blunder. Moreover, many more dreaded terrorists and smugglers are lodged in Amritsar jail. Afzal has also made a similar demand. Anything like the Kandahar episode can be repeated," he warned.

Bitta had a word of praise for Chidambaram, whom he said was sincere in rooting out terrorism from the country.

"He is a very intelligent man. If he had been the home minister five years back Afzal would have been hanged and terrorism would have been away from the country," he said.

Sardar Singh, who lost his son in the attack, accused the government of delaying the execution of Afzal due to vote-bank politics.

"It is just the Muslim vote-bank which is holding the government back. Why don't you hang him? You want to hang Kasab immediately, but why not Afzal?" he asked.

Sunita, who lost her husband in the attack, said her husband's soul will not rest in peace till Afzal is hanged.

"Afzal should be hanged. Only them my husband's soul will rest in peace," he said.

Bitta also demanded the constitution of an Anti-Terrorist Military Court to deal with terrorism-related cases as "politicians won't be able to do it properly due to political compulsions."

M.S. Bitta, Parliament attack martyr's families laud Afzal's hanging
New Delhi | February 09, 2013 12:01:13 AM IST

Expressing delight over the hanging of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, M. S. Bitta, All-India Anti- Terrorist Front (AIATF) Chief, along with the victims' families on Saturday said that the government has finally paid true tributes to the martyred.

Thanking the media, President Pranab Mukherjee and Union Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Bitta said that there should be no politics on the issue as they are very happy with the decision.

"Though the decision has come late, but now we will not complain anymore. We will not let anyone play politics on the name of our martyrs. The government has taken a right decision and we welcome it. We all are united against terrorism. We had refused to take medals awarded to those who laid down their lives until Afzal execution. Now we will write a letter to the President and take back our medals," said Bitta.

"Since the day Kasab was hanged, we hoped that it would be Afzal's turn next and only then would we get justice. Today, after 11 years we have received that justice," said Ganga Devi, widow of Delhi Police official Nanak Chand.

Bachu Singh, son of another policeman, Ghanshyam Patel, who was killed in 2001 parliament attack, said: We have waited for quite a long time but as they say it is better late than never. Today is the day that a true tribute has been made in honour of the sacrifice made by my father."

Afzal Guru was convicted of conspiracy in the December 2001 attack on Parliament and was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court in 2004.

On December 13, 2001, five heavily-armed gunmen stormed the Parliament complex and opened indiscriminate fire, killing nine persons.

They included five Delhi Police personnel, a woman Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official, two Parliament watch and ward staff and a gardener.

A journalist, who was injured, died later. All five terrorists were shot dead.

Guru was arrested within hours after the attack from a bus in the national capital. (ANI)

COMMENTS:
We, the comrades of Unit 1012: The VFFDP, strongly respect and admire Mr. Bitta, for his courage and his care for those victims of terrorism. We wish that there were more people like him in this world. We wish him all the best in his organization.

The AIATF are a wonderful group of people that work together as a team to speak out against evil and fight it. They remind us of the German Resistance during World War II to overthrow Adolf Hitler. They love their country and people and they do not do it for political reason but for being true patriots.

The 26th American President, Teddy Roosevelt has a quote for the AIATF:

“Speak Softly and carry a big stick.”

It means: Do not boast or utter verbal threats, but do make others aware that you are prepared to use physical force if necessary.
