We dedicate this song to her and her family, as she was a soldier.

Performances

"Mansions" was originally written for the 2002 film We Were Soldiers, and was performed by the United States Military Academy Glee Club and the Metro Voices.

The hymn is featured on the CD of the same name by the Morriston Orpheus Choir from Wales.

Reagan Services's 'Mansions of the Lord'

At the end of the memorial service for President Ronald Reagan at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., the U.S. Armed Forces Chorus and the U.S. Marine Chamber Orchestra gave a stirring rendition of the song "The Mansions of The Lord."

Audio for this performance — and for the performance of the hymn "O Love of God, How Strong and True (Jerusalem)," by C. Hubert Parry and sung by the Cathedral Choirs of Men, Boys and Girls during the service — is above.

"The Mansions of the Lord" was written by Nick Glennie-Smith, with words by Randall Wallace, for the 2002 film We Were Soldiers, starring Mel Gibson. The movie version was by the United States Military Academy Glee Club and Metro Voices and is on the original soundrack.

Below are Randall Wallace's lyrics.

The Mansions of the Lord

To fallen soldiers let us sing

Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing

Our broken brothers let us bring

To the Mansions of the Lord

No more bleeding, no more fight

No prayers pleading through the night

Just divine embrace, eternal light

In the Mansions of the Lord.

Where no mothers cry and no children weep

We will stand and guard though the angels sleep

Through the ages safely keep

The Mansions of the Lord.
